Premature Birth
Premature birth occurs when a baby is born before 37 weeks of pregnancy. The earlier the baby is born, the greater the health hazards to the baby. Preterm babies require close monitoring and particular care to help them grow and develop outside of the womb.
Are there different levels of prematurity?
Late preterm: Between the ages of 34 and 36 weeks.
Moderately preterm:Between the ages of 32 and 34 weeks.
Very preterm: Born before 32 weeks.
Extremely preterm: Before the age of 25 weeks, a child is born.
