How is ovarian cancer diagnosed?
If your doctor suspects ovarian cancer, he or she will ask about your symptoms and perform a pelvic check. They will look for any abnormal growths or enlarged organs throughout the evaluation.
They may recommend additional tests, including:
- Ultrasound of the cervix.
- MRI stands for magnetic resonance imaging.
- CT scan stands for computed tomography.
- PET (positron emission tomography) scan.
Surgical evaluation
During surgery, providers can diagnose ovarian cancer. If abnormal growths are discovered, they are usually removed during the same process.
