What is Hypothalamic dysfunction?
A problem with the hypothalamus, a region of the brain, is called hypothalamic dysfunction. Many bodily processes are controlled by the hypothalamus, which also aids in pituitary gland regulation.
Causes:
The hypothalamus helps keep the body’s internal functions in balance. It helps regulate:
- Weight and appetite
- Temp. of the body
- Birth Emotions, behaviour, and memory development
- Generating breast milk
- Water and salt equilibrium
- drive by sex
- The body clock and the sleep-wake cycle
Other causes include:
- Eating disorders (anorexia), excessive weight loss, and other nutritional issues.
- Brain blood vessel issues, such as aneurysms, pituitary apoplexies, and subarachnoid haemorrhages.
- Kallmann syndrome, familial diabetes insipidus, and Prader-Willi syndrome are examples of genetic disorders.
- Swelling (inflammation) and infections brought on by specific immune system conditions.
