What does the basic testing for women include?
Blood and urine testing are examples of laboratory tests. When and if you ovulate can be determined by a urine test. Blood testing can detect:
- Progesterone levels (to determine ovulation)
- Thyroid function (thyroid issues might lead to infertility)
- Prolactin levels (high levels can interfere with ovulation)
- Ovarian reserve (supply of eggs)
Imaging tests and procedures may include:
- Ultrasound exam
- Sonohysterography
- Hysterosalpingography
- Hysteroscopy
- Laparoscopy
You might not have access to all of these tests and treatments. Some are carried out based on the outcomes of earlier tests and treatments. At home, you can also monitor your basal body temperature (BBT).
