What do you do to prepare for IVF treatment?
A complete medical exam and fertility tests are required before beginning IVF treatment. Your companion will also be inspected and tested. Among the preparations you’ll go through are:
- Consultation for IVF (meet with healthcare specialists to discuss the specifics of the IVF procedure).
- A uterine exam, a current Pap test, and a mammography (if you’re over 40).
- A sperm analysis.
- Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and other infectious disorders are screened for.
- Blood and urine tests, as well as ovarian reserve testing.
- Instructions for using fertility medicines.
- Fill out consent forms.
- Evaluation of the uterine cavity (hysteroscopy or saline-infused sonography (SIS)).
Your doctor will advise you to begin taking folic acid supplements at least three months before embryo transfer.
