Can foods I eat affect my asthma symptoms?

There’s no asthma diet that will eliminate your symptoms. But these steps may help:

Eat to maintain a healthy weightAsthma can get worse if you’re overweight. Even a small amount of weight loss can help your symptoms. To keep a healthy weight over time, learn how to eat properly.

Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables: They are an excellent source of antioxidants like beta carotene and vitamins C and E, which may help lessen lung inflammation and swelling brought on by the cell-damaging molecules known as free radicals.

Avoid allergy-triggering foodsSymptoms of asthma can be caused by allergic food reactions. Some people experience asthma symptoms after exercising after consuming a food that causes allergies.

Take in vitamin D: Low vitamin D levels are possible in those with more severe asthma. Vitamin D is found in fish like salmon, milk, and eggs. Even a brief period of time in the sun can boost vitamin D levels.
