What are the three thyroid hormone?

  Thyroxine T4 Hormone

Thyroxine is the primary hormone released by the thyroid gland into the bloodstream. It is essential for digestion, heart and muscle function, brain development, and bone maintenance.

Triiodothyronine (T3) Hormone

Triiodothyronine t3 hormones are also involved in the regulation of your weight, body temperature, muscle strength, and nervous system.

A T3 test is most commonly used to diagnose hyperthyroidism, a condition in which the body produces excessive amounts of thyroid hormone.

T3 tests are often ordered in conjunction with T4 and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) testing. A T3 test can also be used to track the progress of thyroid disease treatment.

Calcitonin Hormone

Calcitonin is a hormone generated in humans by the thyroid gland’s parafollicular cells (also known as C-cells). Calcitonin is involved in the regulation of calcium and phosphate levels in the blood, acting in opposition to the activity of parathyroid hormone.
