What causes a low sperm count?

There are numerous factors that could lead to oligospermia or other sperm abnormalities in you. The causes are as follows:

  • Diseases, including those related to genetics, infection, hormones and obstructions (blockages).
  • Environmental toxins.
  • Heat.
  • Drugs.

Diseases and conditions

Several conditions, such as the following, can result in a low sperm count:

  • Klinefelter syndrome and cystic fibrosis are two examples of genetic disorders.
