What is in vitro gametogenesis?
In vitro gametogenesis
In vitro gametogenesis is a relatively new reproductive technique that is still being investigated and developed. IVG generates sperm and egg cells in a lab from virtually any adult cell. IVG reverse engineers a type of cell called induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) using skin or blood cells.
What are the 4 stages of gametogenesis?
Gametogenesis is divided into four phases:
- The origin of primordial germ cells is extra-gonadal.
- Mitosis is the process through which germ cells multiply.
- Meiosis.
- The maturation of the ova and spermatozoa in terms of structure and function.
