Who needs ICSI?

Who needs ICSI?

Your healthcare professional inserts the fertilized egg (embryo) into your uterus in both ICSI and conventional IVF. If the embryo clings to the lining of your uterus, pregnancy will result.

  • Anejaculation (inability to ejaculate).
  • Blockage in their male reproductive system.
  • Low sperm count.
  • Poor sperm quality.
  • Retrograde ejaculation (semen flows backward into their bladder).

You might also require ICSI if

  • Embryo formation has not occurred with conventional IVF.
  • The egg supplier is over 35 years old.
  • To try to get pregnant, you’re using previously frozen sperm or eggs (cryopreservation).
